Be wary of voter related mailings

Once again, we are receiving reports that third-party organizations are sending out both absentee ballot and voter registration applications to our residents. While these organizations have good intentions, often times their actions are causing confusion for both voters and our staff. These organizations are not affiliated with the Town of Cottage Grove and while most organizations are legitimate, this is also an area of opportunity for scammers. Never give personal information to anyone you don’t know and trust. The Town of Cottage Grove does not send out voter registration or absentee ballot application forms unless specifically requested.
The recommended method to register to vote or request an absentee ballot is to use http://myvote.wi.gov.
If you do choose to utilize one of the forms you receive in the mail, please be sure to include the necessary supplemental information (proof of residency for voter registration, photo ID for absentee ballot request), and be sure it is pre-addressed to the correct Clerk. We are finding this is not always the case, and can lead to confusion and delay of processing of applications. It is also very helpful if you include contact information so we can reach you in the event that something is missing.  The address for the Town of Cottage Grove Clerk is:
Town of Cottage
Attn: Municipal Clerk
4058 County Road N
Cottage Grove, WI  53527
If you ever have any questions or concerns about something you receive in the mail, do not hesitate to contact the Clerk at clerk@tn.cottagegrove.wi.gov or 608-839-5021.
