Wishing you a safe and happy 4th of July Weekend!
As we approach this weekend of celebrations, we wanted to remind residents to keep safety and neighborly consideration at the forefront of any festivities.
Only non-aerial, non-explosive fireworks (such as sparklers, ground fountains, and novelty items) are legal for public use. Any fireworks that explode or leave the ground are strictly prohibited.
If you choose to use legal fireworks, please follow these important guidelines to ensure a safe environment for everyone:
• Be mindful of the timing and location of fireworks. Loud, unexpected noises can cause severe anxiety for farm animals, pets, individuals with sensory sensitivities, and veterans experiencing PTSD.
• Always soak used fireworks thoroughly in a bucket of water before discarding them in the trash. This simple step prevents residual heat from sparking a fire in disposal bins.
Thank you for partnering with us to keep the Town of Cottage Grove safe, peaceful, and enjoyable for all residents this season.
