Dane County Offering Free September Battery Collection

Through the end of September, Dane County residents can bring household batteries and battery-containing devices to Clean Sweep for disposal at no charge.

Batteries are increasingly common in everyday products, and when batteries are placed in household trash or recycling, they can be easily damaged and cause extremely hot fires that are hard to extinguish. The free battery collection in September is an effort by Dane County to assist residents in making a safe choice with battery disposal, while protecting sanitation workers, waste facilities, and the environment.

Dane County Clean Sweep is open Monday – Friday 7:15am – 3:15pm & Saturday 8:00am – 10:45am. They are located at 7020 Maahic Way in Madison for drop off. Residents are limited to one free load per week in September. For full details on what they accept, please reference their website here: https://landfill.danecounty.gov/Dane-County-Clean-Sweep.
