End of Summer Recycling Tips

End of Summer Recycling Tips

As we approach the end of Summer, here are some seasonal recycling reminders:

  • Pool floats, noodles, and toys are not accepted in curbside recycling.
  • Squeeze-tube sunscreen bottles are not recyclable.
  • Propane tanks and pool chemicals are considered hazardous waste and need to be dropped off at designated drop-off sites.
  • Portable AC units contain refrigerants and must be recycled through certified e-waste programs.
  • Garden hoses are not recyclable and can pose dangers to recycling equipment if mixed in with recyclables.
  • For end of Summer gatherings, remember that soiled plates, napkins & cutlery that have been used are not recyclable. Solo cups are also not recyclable, but aluminum cans and plastic bottles are recyclable.
  • If you have worn out beach towels, consider donating them to animal shelters rather than throwing them out.
  • Donate unwanted Summer clothing and footwear rather than tossing it.
